Can i have shabby chic white distressed furniture in my living room with blackish brown leather couches?

Question by Izzo: Can i have shabby chic white distressed furniture in my living room with blackish brown leather couches?
Just bought a house and i’m switching to shabby chic country style. I love white distressed furniture but we want to keep our couches because there sooo comfortable and easy to clean with our baby. Any tips on meshing my styles.

you can mesh, but will really have to work on it. dark leather implies heaviness and shabby chick country implies airyness. stay away from the pure white and use distressed cream colors instead. accessorize with large dark brownish black pieces to tie in to the couches. think vases, art work, heavy picture frames. get large cream colored highly textured pillows to tie in with the chic country look. a large (don’t chinz on this) area rug in a creamy multi colored motif would work to tie it together. your wall color could go into the creamy color but make sure there’s no pink underlying in the cream – more mushroomy. you notice i say to accesorize with “large” pieces. this is to offset the heavyness of the couches. also get a cream colored “throw” for the larger couch. it’s all about balance.
