Question by BinaB: Craft/Scrapbooking desk help?
I found the perfect table. The Bedford Project table from PB.

But I think this is a ridiculous amount of money. Really, it’s 2 3×3 bookshelves with a table top. Any ideas on how to get this? IKEA does not have the cube 3×3 shelves. Target’s version is still 0+shipping. All the furniture I’ve found that is within the price range is white. My office is dark wood. I’m willing to get more carpentry savvy, but I need a starting point.

The shelves are 12in deep, so the paper should fit. The one at Target, the Adams table, is 12.5in deep. There is also one at www.grandinroad.com for 9.

Your link didn’t work but I was able to search for the table on Pottery Barn’s website. Do you make 12×12 scrapbook pages? In the picture, it looks like a magazine just fits in one of the cubes. If that’s the case, your 12×12 paper won’t fit in a cube. I think you’d be better off fashioning something yourself with IKEA-type furnishings. Doesn’t have to look exactly the same!

Wrong color?! Paint it!
Oh I have drooled over that desk many a time, many a time..but can’t justify the money!
You know, I use our old dining room table. Its about 36″ wide by 108″ or so.. a standard table size…perfect for scrapbooking and its light enough that when I have people over to do it with me, we can move it to the middle of the room and sit 4.
I made my table similar to what your link took me to but I used on one side a standard unfinished wooded book cases–the other side was the white solid cubes (9 worked out for the size I needed) then dh used a piece of plywood to make the top–covered it with those sheets of laminate (since it was better protection than painting or staining) they use for kitchen counters that we picked up at HomeDepot, very easy to put on. L brackets hold them all together underneath and baskets from WM fit the cubes very nice.
